Introducing Kai Wynne-Jones: Structured Finance Solutions

We’re excited to announce the further expansion of the PMD structured finance solutions division with our latest team member – Kai Wynne-Jones! Joining us in January 2022, Kai has taken up the role of our Structured Finance Relationship Manager. We wanted you to get to know Kai, so we decided to put him in the hot seat and ask him a few questions about himself and his experiences.

Tell us a bit about where you’ve worked in the past.

Prior to joining PMD, I worked within the NatWest Commercial & Corporate Banking teams for over 4 years. I supported SMEs, mid-market, and large corporate clients. I started my career on the NatWest Apprenticeship Programme, where I spent 18 months focusing on portfolio management and business development. This allowed me to develop a strong understanding of the commercial finance market. Upon graduating from the NatWest Apprenticeship Program, I was promoted to the NatWest Corporate team. Here I helped managed a portfolio of PLC’s and multi-nationals providing funding solutions for growth and expansion.

What excited you about the role with PMD?

I have always had an awareness of PMD as I knew some of the team members. It’s a great time to be joining PMD as the business and structured finance division is growing – I’m excited to be able to join the division and shape the growth.  The role also provides me with exposure to different transactions and the wider finance marketplace.

What are your key responsibilities within your role with PMD?

Working as a Structured Finance Relationship Manager at PMD, I’m responsible for supporting clients who have more complex funding needs and requirements. These often include management buy outs, acquisitions, employee ownership trusts, working capital facilities and growth capital. I also get the opportunity to support professional partners too such as accountants and lawyers with the role also having a key focus on business development.

What are you enjoying the most so far?

In the time I’ve been here, I’ve really enjoyed having the exposure to a wide variety of clients and transactions. No two days are ever the same! I could be working with a company who are acquiring a new piece of machinery one day and supporting a business to make a management buyout the next. Every day is different. I’m always learning on the job, and I’ve had lots of new experiences that I haven’t had the opportunity to take part in whilst working in previous roles. I also really like the fast-paced environment. I find that I work better under pressure and the PMD environment brings out the best in me.

What do you get up to in your spare time?

Outside of work, I like to socialise with my friends and family. When I’m not out and about, I spend a lot of my time playing sports – mostly football. I’m a MASSIVE man city fan, attending most of their home and away games. I also really like to travel. It’s been difficult with Covid-19, but I’m planning on going to Italy later this year.

Tell us a fun fact about you!

I’ve never broken a bone! Even though I’ve played lots of sports, including contact ones such as football and boxing, I’ve never broken a bone!
